Nikolaos Plastiras

DImensions: 16,5 x 20 cm Location: Greece, Athens Material: telegraphic paper

Thank-you and greeting telegram from Nikolaos Plastiras. Nikolaos Plastiras (1883-1953) was a general and politician. He fought with distinction in the Balkan Wars and the Asia Minor Campaign and he also served thrice as Prime Minister of Greece in 1945, 1950 and 1951-1952. The recipient of the telegram could probably be identified as Nikolaos Konstantpoulos (1184-1975) who was appointed Under Secretary, General Commander of East Macedonia, as member of the Plastiras-led government, which was in power for a few months in 1945. Konstantopoulos, a politician and litterateur, was elected MP as member of the Liberal Party several times (1923, 1928, 1931, 1933, 1936). After the war, he was elected MP as member of the Greek Rally (1952-1956). His file lies in the ELIA-MET of Thessaloniki.
