Siemens & Halske telephone desk set

Location: Germany Material: metal,plastic

Grey magneto desk phone in a grey metal casing. It is fitted with a bronze handset with a plastic handle resting on a metal cradle ("fork" design). On the right side, a brass hand crank is connected to the device with an ochre cloth cord. It has a metal base plate. The device was intended for use in Austria's Public Administration sector. It is technically differentiated from previous models due to the introduction of bigger coils. It is worth noting that after World War I ended in 1918, with this particular device, Siemens adopted the use of the black colour as it principal colour. On the other hand, it terminated the use of wood casings and shifted away from the labeling of the Eagle emblem -in honour of the Emperor (Kaiser)- on the devices.
