L. M. Ericsson telephone desk set

DImensions: 4 x 18 x 15 εκ. Location: Sweden Material: plastic,bakelite,metal

White automatic Bakelite desk phone with a metal (steel) base and a Bakelite handset with a beige cloth cord. It sports a metal rotary dial with a burgundy numeral inner ring. The phone design had a great impact on the European market and was called the "Swedish telephone type". In Great Britain it was also called "Cheesedish" due to its shape. A similar device in white Bakelite casing was introduced by Siemens in the mid-1930s, although at first, it was intended for the public,. It is worth mentioning that the use of Bakelite did not facilitate the rendering of light colours. In 1947, the device was redesigned in order to achieve a reduction in size and angularity, while at the same time its white-creamy version was more broadly introduced on the market.
