Telegram from Venice

DImensions: 19 x 21 cm Location: Italy, Venice, Cable and Wireless Limited Material: telegraphic paper

Telegram, written in English, whereby the sender informs the recipient of the fact that he received his telegram about Margarita (the ship). He asks the recipient for immediate approval, due to competitiveness, to park in Kherson and Venice for carbon. A receipt is attached to the telegram. In most periods of modern Greek history, trade shipping was the most developed sector of Greek economy. The Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea were the main business environment for Greek traders. The traders specialised in export trade and specifically in transporting in bulk cargo and wheat. Along with the development of steam ship fleets, ship owners that had the adequate infrastructure turned to more profitable routes, leaving the Greek ship owners free to thrive in lower fare routes, such as the Black Sea and the Mediterranean.
